Violin and Fiddle Outfits

A fiddle and a violin are the same instrument; the name changes with the music. We carry violin outfits that include the violin, bow and case, checked on our bench before they ship.

A full size violin is called 4/4 and suits most players from about age 11 and up. Younger students use smaller sizes; a teacher can measure the right one.

We also carry violin strings and shoulder rests in our strings and accessories sections.

What is the difference between a fiddle and a violin?

None in the instrument itself. Fiddle is the name used in folk, bluegrass and old-time music.

What size violin do I need?

Most players from about 11 years old use a full size, called 4/4. Younger students need a smaller size measured by arm length.
