Hands working on a guitar on the setup bench
Our setup process

What We Do Before an Instrument Ships

A guitar that is hard to play gets put down. A few careful adjustments on the bench are the difference.

Most guitars sold online ship in the same sealed box they left the factory in. Ours do not. Each one is opened, checked and adjusted by hand in our shop in Athens, Tennessee, and the steps below are what we go through.

Why it matters

String height decides whether an instrument feels easy or fights you. Intonation decides whether chords sound in tune up the neck. Neither is right by accident after a long trip through changing heat and humidity. A few careful adjustments fix that, and for a beginner they are often the difference between practicing and giving up.

What is included

The setup is included with every guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin we ship. Ukuleles and violin outfits are checked and tuned. There is no extra charge.
