Choosing an Electric Guitar

We carry Fender, Squier, Epiphone, PRS, Ibanez and Jackson electric guitars, from the Squier Sonic and Mini Stratocaster for first-time players to the Fender American Professional II and American Ultra II. Every one is taken out of its box and set up by hand on our bench in Athens, Tennessee before it ships: fresh strings, action and neck relief, intonation, frets and hardware, tuned to pitch.

A Stratocaster has three single-coil pickups and a bright, clear voice. A Telecaster is simpler and punchier. A Les Paul style guitar uses humbuckers for a thicker, warmer sound. There is no wrong answer: pick the sound of the players you like.

Remember that an electric guitar needs an amplifier and a cable. The Squier Sonic Stratocaster Pack includes both.

Questions We Get

What do I need to start playing electric guitar?

A guitar, an amplifier, a cable and a tuner. A starter pack such as the Squier Sonic Stratocaster Pack includes the amp and cable.

What is the difference between Squier and Fender?

Squier is the more affordable line made by Fender. The shapes and layouts are the same; Fender models use higher-grade parts and finishes.

Stratocaster or Telecaster?

A Stratocaster has three pickups and a tremolo bridge and covers a wide range of sounds. A Telecaster has two pickups and a fixed bridge and is simple and punchy.

Do you set up electric guitars before shipping?

Yes. Action, neck relief and intonation are set and the guitar is tuned on our bench before it ships.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free on every order within the United States, with no minimum.
