The Cripple Creek CC-100R is Gold Tone's long-running student banjo. It has a hard maple neck, rim and resonator, a brass tone ring and a two-way adjustable truss rod, and it is set up at the Gold Tone shop in Florida with low action.

The resonator gives it bluegrass volume and can be removed to turn it into an openback, so one banjo covers both styles while you learn.
