Stratocaster vs Telecaster Which Is Right for You

The Telecaster and the Stratocaster are the two most copied electric guitars ever made. They come from the same company and share a bolt on neck, yet they play and sound different. Here is how to tell which suits you.
The Telecaster
The Telecaster is the simpler design. It has a flat slab body, two single coil pickups, a three way switch and a fixed bridge. The sound is bright and direct with a snap that country, rock and indie players love. With fewer parts there is less to adjust and it tends to stay in tune well.

The Stratocaster
The Stratocaster has a contoured body that curves against your ribs and forearm, three pickups, a five way switch and a tremolo bridge with an arm for bending pitch. It covers more sounds, from glassy cleans to singing blues leads.

Which one first
